A few things to do when in paradise (Bequia)
Here is a list of our top 10 things to do while you spend your holiday time in Paradise.
1. Lower Bay Beach
Golden sand and clear Caribbean Seas make this our top spot for visitors. You can access the beach via a trail from Princess Margarets Beach or from the Villa you can walk along the Belmont Road onto Lower Bay road which gives you access. Often guests get a water taxi from Port Elizabeth and arrange a time to be collected. "It doesn't matter how you get here. Just get here if you can."
2. Princess Margaret Beach
Second on our list is another beach. A stones throw away from Lower Bay and home to one of our favourite bars on the Island (Jacks - see below). Great for snorkelling in its crystal clear water. A few beach vendors will quench your thirst and an ideal spot for the golden hour - sunsets are quite spectacular. Relatively easy to walk to from Port Elizabeth along the Belmont Board Walk and on the Princess Margaret Trail. Just 600 metres as the crow flies from Admiralty View to the start of Princess Margaret beach.
3. Mt Peggy Hike
This one is a little different from our top 2 positions, this one will take some effort. Mount Peggy as she is fondly known as is the highest peak on Bequia. The trek will take a couple of hours from start to finish (quicker if you are fitter). You can start on Friendship side or lower bay side (Friendship seems to be the preferred option).
4. Friendship Bay (Yes another Beach!)
A short taxi ride from Admiralty View over the hill and south facing. It's another glorious beach home to the famous Bequia Beach Hotel. You will spot this beach on your taxi ride from the Airport if you fly into Bequia. It's quiet, long and on a clear day you can see Mustique. We have spend New Years eve on the beach here and the fireworks from Mustique were fabulous. It's worth a day trip, either pack yourself a lunch or book in at the Bequia Beach Hotel for a fancy bite to eat. You will love it.
